Authorities mentioned they were notified by a individual who discovered a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.

A senior official commented the incident left him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
